Experience
I graduated from Hamline University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. English was my minor. I am now a Fellow at the Bennington Writing Seminars, working towards a master's degree in fine arts, majoring in creative writing. My tutoring experience includes working with the Minnesota Reading Corps, helping students in the Saint Paul Public Schools, and assisting students attending the Hamlin Young Writers' Workshop. I teach reading, writing, grammar, literature, and public speaking. I have had the opportunity to work with students of all ages and educational backgrounds. I also taught many workshops on essay writing. When I go over a student's paper, I look at more than the technical aspects of the work, I look to find merit in the story or information too. Reading and writing is an integral part of my life. I am involved in the local literary community and have received awards for some of my written work. I find the more a person is educated, the more well rounded he or she is in life. Helping people learn and sharing what I have learned is at the core of my being. I am a teacher.Sometimes, however, I need to take a break from the academic world. When I do, I like to run or ski, play baseball, go ice fishing, or just enjoy the different arts.
