When I initially was required to study a foreign language as a high school student, I didn't enjoy it very much. I got by in the course, but I did just enough to get a good grade. When I went on to the University of Minnesota, I was required again to study French. Along the course of this learning however, the language began to click with me. I started retaining information and having fun learning. I started embracing the language, and I had the opportunity to study abroad in Paris, where I learned quickly through immersion and was able to perfect my pronunciation and accent. All of the sudden, I loved the French language and become confident in my abilities as a language learner. I have since studied Italian as well, and I've honed my language skills over the past decade. I'm now ready to share what I know with others as a tutor. I love helping people, and helping people learn is even more rewarding. When I work with students, I will support and encourage them while I help them develop their skills. I will squash out any anxiety or trepidation, listen to my student's needs, and customize my approach to match each student's learning style.
